Revisited

It's been two years since I last visited my blog! I'm wondering whether I can use my blog to create a forum for my students to participate in. It is compulsory for them as part of their coursework.

Mid-Year MUET 2010 Registration

Alhamdulillah, I was able to register all the students who submitted their forms for this year's MUET. Please take note that the written exam will be held on 24 April and the speaking exam will be held on 3, 4, 5 May and 10, 11, 12 May. There are 171 candidates registering this year.

Unfortunately there will be no classes conducted for MUET. For the internal students, you can refer to your EAP 1, 2 and 3 modules to help you revise for the exam. Please follow the latest MUET format which started in Final-Year MUET 2008.

Mid- Year MUET Exam 2010

Good news to all UNITI students. The Mid-Year MUET exam will be offered at our college. So anyone interested can register for it sometime in February. The exam will be conducted in April/May. You can download the registration form from the Majlis Peperiksaan Malaysia website at www.mpm.edu.my. The fee for the exam is RM60. There will not be any special class to prepare you for the exam. I'm afraid you have to study on your own. For internal students, all EAP courses should prepare you for it. Revise your modules. If you have any question you can see me.

Starting this week (until further notice), every Wednesday, UNITI campus should be abuzz with English words as it is ENGLISH DAY! It is a milestone of our beloved college. All the staff (including CEO!) and students must speak in English. I am sure your English lecturers (including me) always stress on the importance of English in this globalised world of ours, and one way to improve the cammand of the language is to USE it. You can never improve if you don't use it. If you haven't started, now is the time. It doesn't matter if you use broken English as you will improve over time. Believe me you will as I have been through this myself.

Never feel shy. Do not care what others say about your English. You should be proud of yourself as at least you are trying compared to your friends who don't even want to try. Give yourself a big pat on your back! So c'mon, let's use English today. I'm sure you don't want to be left behind in acquiring this skill as it is the second most important criteria (after soft skills) most employers are looking for in graduates ( Ramjit Singh Malhi & A. Wahab Bakar 2008).

Sem 1 09/10 is coming to an end. To all students, especially mine, do reflect upon what you have done throughout the semester. Congratulations to those who have been able to sail through effortlessly. To those who are still looking for solid ground, don't fret since you still have about three weeks to try to catch up on your studies before your final exams.

Fully and cleverly use your time in the next 3 weeks to revise your lessons as I'm sure none of you would like to fail your course. Consult your lecturers if you are in doubt since we are here to help you.

Lastly, all the best. Hope all of you will pass with flying colours. And to my May semester students, have a wonderful holiday.

First time at the blog

I have thought about creating my blog before but not on my own. I was thinking of asking Cikgu Bad to help me since he has become very good at it. However, in Dr Norazah's class I was exposed to blogs and taught how to create one. Finally, I have my own blog now.

There are many more I need to know about blogging, but this is a good start for someone who is not really IT savvy!
